I'd like to expand my single node Aria Operations deployment to include a Data Node, here's how to do it!

Deploy an Aria Operations appliance via OVA, same size and same version as the Primary Node, and power it on. Once powered on, access the provided URL and follow the wizard.

ree

Click EXPAND AN EXISTING INSTALLATION.

ree

Click NEXT.

ree

Give your Node a name, type (in my case Data), point it at the Operations Cluster Primary Node, VALIDATE, Accept this Certificate, and click NEXT.

ree

Provide the Operations cluster admin credentials and click NEXT.

ree

Click FINISH, which will take you to the admin UI indicating the new Data Node is being prepared.

ree

Which will be updated over the next few minutes.

ree

Click FINISH ADDING NEW NODE(S).

ree

Click OK.

ree

And our Data Node has been added. Which you can also see from the regular UI and Administration - Cluster Management.

ree

To balance Objects and Metrics across both Nodes in the Cluster go to ACTIONS - Rebalance.

ree

When prompted, select Rebalance Disk and OK.

ree

And now we're rebalanced!

In our next blog we'll explore activating HA!
