VCF 9 dropped earlier this week, let's see what upgades looks like! I'm going to start minimal and work my way into a fresh deploy of VCF 9. Let's start with an in-place upgrade of Aria Operations 8.18.3 to VCF Operations 9. Great blog here from the team highlighting some of the goodness in VCF Operations 9!
We'll start by going to the Broadcom Support Portal to download the VCF Operations 9 binaries. Be sure to click and read the Terms and Conditions link and the Compliance Reporting Terms and Conditions before clicking the I agree box.

We'll start with an upgrade, so we'll download the Upgrade pak file. Once downloaded, apply it via the Admin UI like any other upgrade. First, take VM Snapshots of your Operations Cluster Nodes and export any Content you might like to have just in case.

Log into the Admin UI and take your Cluster offline.

Once offline, go to Software Update and select INSTALL A SOFTWARE UPDATE.

Select the VCF Operations 9 binary.

Select UPLOAD. This was my first attempt, so I didn't select the Install the PAK file even if it is already installed, but you might need to if you've tried previously.

Click NEXT and follow the prompts. Once complete, back in the Admin UI you'll see this.

The System Status shows this.

You'll notice the Version is now 9.0.0.0.24695812. You'll also notice this new tile called Fleet Management, we'll discuss that later. Logging into the main UI, you'll notice the new UI.

Login and you'll be presented with the CEIP page, you can opt out of this later.

Go to Administration - Global Systems - System Settings to opt out if you'd like.

Going to the About page, you'll see we're now at VCF Operations 9.0!

There are a few things to point out here with this minimal upgrade:
- You'll need to re-integrate with Operations for Logs (requires Logs 9.0)
- You'll need to deploy the Fleet Management appliance and integrate that to get Fleet Management capabilities
- You'll need to register Operations with your new license
We'll explore these in the next blog!
