Last time we deployed a fresh Logs 9.0 from vCenter via OVA, then imported into VCF Operations via Fleet Manager. This time, we'll deploy a fresh Logs 9.0 from VCF Operations itself, let's go!

VCF Operations 9 is up and running with Fleet Manager connected. In order to deploy Logs from VCF Operations itself, we need to load the binaries, which we'll do from the Depot. Go to Fleet Management - Lifecycle - Depot Configuration.

ree

Here you have the option to configure an Online Depot or an Offline Depot, Arun Nukula has covered them in great detail here. I've configured an Offline (Webserver) Depot.

ree

Once configured, click OK to save.

ree

Next you'll want to load the binaries via Binary Management.

ree

Since this is a fresh deployment go to INSTALL BINARIES, select operations-logs and DOWNLOAD.

ree

Download Status will show as In Progress, until complete.

ree

Next go to the Components tab and select ADD COMPONENT.

ree

Select operations-logs.

ree

Select New Install, Version 9.0.0.0, and whatever Deployment Type you want.

ree

Create or Import a Certificate, I've generated one here.

ree

Click NEXT.

ree

Select the vCenter, Cluster, Network, and other related Infrastructure your Logs deployment will run on.

ree

Configure the necessary network settings.

ree

Configure your size, FIPS, VIP, etc.

ree

Run the pre-check by clicking RUN PRECHECK.

ree

Confirm and SUBMIT.

ree

You can follow the process in Tasks if you'd like.

ree

Took about 45m and it was done!

ree

Back on the Fleet Management - Lifecycle page we now have operations-logs!

ree

Now, you still have to configure Operations for Logs by going into the Logs UI and configuring the vSphere Integration (and anything else you might want.

To confirm things are working, go to Infrastructure Operations - Analyze.

ree

We've now successfully deployed Logs from Operations (Lifecycle). Next up, Automation!
