We previously upgraded Aria Operations 8.18.3 to VCF Operations 9: first we did it directly then we did it via the Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager. We then connected our Fleet Manager. Next we'll deploy VCF Operations for Logs 9 and import it into our environment via Fleet Manager. Remember, upgrading Aria Operations for Logs from 8.18.x or lower to 9.0 isn't supported, so you must deploy a fresh VCF Operations for Logs 9.0. You can deploy fresh from Fleet Manager or via OVA from vCenter and import via Fleet Manager after the fact, the latter will be covered here. Let's go.

Download VCF Operations for Logs 9 and deploy as per usual from vCenter. Once deployed it'll look like this.

ree

After connecting vCenters and ESXi Hosts you'll start seeing logs.

ree

Next go to VCF Operations 9 Fleet Management - Lifecycle - Overview.

ree

Click ADD.

ree

You'll be given the option to deploy from here (New Install) or Import an existing VCF Operations for Logs.

ree

Select Import.

ree

Add your Logs FQDN and other necessary fields, click NEXT.

ree

Click SUBMIT and watch the progress.

ree

It completed in a couple minutes.

ree

The Tasks tab will indicate the import has completed.

ree

Back on the Overview tab you will now show an operations-logs deployment.

ree

Over in VCF Operations 9, you can now see logs!

ree

Security - Audit Events will now show events as well!

ree

Next blog, we'll deploy Logs from Fleet Manager, stay tuned!
